Disney’s D23 expo brings exciting news to disney fans

From Sept. 9 to 11 of 2022, Disney held their D23 Expo in the Anaheim Convention Center where they made various announcements on upcoming movies and tv shows. In the span of three days, companies including Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucas film, 20th Century Studios, and Disney revealed many of their upcoming movies and revealed what they had planned for the next few years.
Day one of the expo started with the Disney Legends Award Ceremony which also served as the launch for Disney 100 Wonder, which celebrates Disney’s 100th anniversary. The celebration then continued with Broadway performers reprising their roles in Aladdin, The Lion King and Frozen. Bob Chapek, The Walt Disney Company CEO, was then introduced and brought on stage where he surprised guests and fans with a first look at Disney 100 Years of Wonder. Additionally, Chapek announced that the Avengers Campus in California Adventure was going to be expanded. At the end of the awards ceremony there was a surprise performance by the cast of Disney’s Encanto where they sang “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”

Day two was so large that they had to split it up into two presentations that included various panels featuring actors, directors, and producers who discuss their upcoming projects. Alan Bergman, the chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, reflected upon the 13-year history of the D23 expo as well as the evolution of the studio. Fans and guests were also surprised with various clips and trailers from upcoming Marvel, Pixar, 20th Century and Lucasfilm movies and tv shows. In addition, it was announced that “The Story of Disney: 100 Years of Wonder” would be available next year. Along with that announcement, many actors and actresses shared their thoughts and hopes for the future. 

Day three, the final day of the expo, included the last few panels and discussions included various anniversary celebrations. The last “40 years of Tron” and the 31st season of Dancing with the Stars was celebrated among everyone who attended the D23 expo. There was also a Kim Possible Reunion between the show’s stars Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle. Fans were also surprised when the voice cast of “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” appeared on stage and did a live table read and introduced guest stars that will appear on the show. The highly anticipated Live Disney Princess Concert also occurred and featured many performers and classic, beloved songs from popular Disney films. 

Overall the expo allowed Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucas film fans alike to experience a weekend of celebration, entertainment, and joy.
