Music nowadays is considered very diverse and everyone has a choice in what they decide to listen to in their free time. The oldies is a genre that has been around for a while, but it has increased in popularity in recent years. Famous singers like Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin have made a comeback with an increasing amount of listeners in 2019. Original songs have inspired current artists in contemporary songs, and they can be heard almost anywhere you go. The genre varies throughout the time period of 1950-1980. This specific genre is sadly uncommon on the radio, as there are few stations dedicated to these songs and artists. Currently, the genre is popular among multiple generations, as it looks back into a time when, according to some people, music held true meaning. My personal top 10 songs vary in artist and time period, and they are in no particular order. However, in my opinion, these are the best of the best from their time.
When a Man Loves a Woman- Percy Sledge
Build Me Up Buttercup- The Foundations
All I have to do is Dream- The Everly Brothers
My Way- Frank Sinatra
(What a) Wonderful World- Sam Cooke
Somethin’ Stupid- Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra
Oh, Pretty Woman- Ray Orbinson
Come Fly With Me- Frank Sinatra
Make Someone Happy- Jimmy Durante
Volare (Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu)- Dean Martin
