A certain sight, smell, feeling or even sound can instantly transport someone to another time or place defined by that sensory detail. Songs have the ability to grab hold of someone, and remind them of memories with friends, enemies or mere acquaintances. Whether they introduced you to the tune, jammed with you in the car or were mindlessly singing it on some random Tuesday, the people with whom these memories were created will certainly resurface while the song plays. For this week, I have asked several friends and family members which songs they associate with me, and this eclectic playlist is the result:
Come on Eileen- Dexy’s Midnight Runners
Popular- Wicked
Mr. Brightside- The Killers
I Speak Six Languages- The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Wait- M83
Tongue Tied- Grouplove
Take Me or Leave Me- RENT
Wannabe- The Spice Girls
Pretty Funny- Dogfight
Hey There Delilah- Plain White T’s
