Sports opinion: A timeline of the 5 most impactful games leading to the 2019 World Series

By COLE DABBS

  • Sept. 5, 2019: Astros 12-3 Royals @ Kauffman Stadium

The Royals were meant to blow out the Astros in this game (it was like the Oct. 7 Nationals v. Dodgers game when the Dodgers were expected to win).

  • Oct. 7, 2019: Nationals 6-1 Dodgers @Nationals Park

If the Nationals lost this game, they would not be where they are. In the first game where they played the Dodgers, the Nationals lost 10-4.

  • Oct. 10, 2019: Astros 6-1 Rays @Minute Maid Park

The Rays had two out of three games won, with one game 10-3 Rays, and 4-1 Rays on the following game. The Rays thought they had it in the bag.

  • Oct. 15, 2019: Nationals 7-4 Cardinals @Nationals Park

With no injured players and close games, it was any team’s game.

  • Oct. 20, 2019. Astros 4-6 Yankees @Minute Maid Park

The Yankees were supposed to beat everyone in the league and they ended up losing.

  • Oct. 22, 2019: Nationals v. Astros to play at Minute Maid Park, 5:08 pm, Central time

A man bet $3.5 million on the World Series on Tuesday, Oct. 15, one of the highest bets in sports history, according to Sports Illustrated.

With the unpredictability of the games leading up to the World Series, would you place that bet?

Who do you think will win the World Series?
