Professional car racer Jessi Combs dies attempting to set a new land speed record

The beloved race car driver Jessi Combs has passed away at the age of 39 while attempting to break the land speed record, according to CNN. Combs was found at 4 p.m. in the Alvord Desert on August 27, 2019. She was discovered when someone reported seeing a speed car crash and, as the deputies arrived at the scene, first responders were able to identify the deceased racer. Combs was trying to hit 500 miles per hour to practice breaking the record and lost control; only her car was involved in the accident. Jalopnik.com reported a memorial for Combs was held in the Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on Sept. 21 to share memories and honor her life.

In Jessi combs official, Jessi Combs grew up knowing that she wanted professionally race cars; she accomplished much in her life and expanded her career through television as she co-hosted on Overhaulin, made a guest appearance on MythBusters and reprised her role as a co-host of Xtreme 4X4.

Due to her great success as a racer, Combs represented many brands and had just begun her own metal fab shop to customize trucks, race vehicles and anything with metal. Combs embraced her career and accomplishments while making others feel proud and accepting of themselves as her actions reflected her character. 

Combs was about to have a different career when she was offered a full scholarship to pursue interior design, but she decided to decline it for her driving career. Fox News discusses how She studied in Custom Automotive Fabrication and thus started her lifestyle. Combs’ driving skills led her down the path of being in films and commercials associated with driving and fast cars—she was determined to pursue her career and her love for racing. Combs will be missed and her life left an impact on many people who looked up to her and her inspirational spirit.
