Led by coach Keisha Mackall, with an overall record of 17-4 and a league record of 10-4, the Citrus Valley High School Girls Varsity basketball team finished 3rd in the Citrus Belt League.
The Blackhawks won over half of their season games with a difference of more than 20 points than their competitor.
The Blackhawks’ January game schedule and results are just a sampling of the many games where they dominated the scoreboard. With the exception of losses to Yucaipa and Cajon, the Blackhawks won every other contest in January.
Their last game was against Whittier Christian on Feb. 15, 2018 where they lost by only 2 points in the first round of the playoffs.
Sophomore Anya Henderson states, “One of the most memorable experiences in this team was having such a family like bond and one of my personal favorite memories was when all the underclassmen stayed after practice and after school to prepare for senior night, decorate the hall and prepare gifts for them to make their final home game special.”
Senior Edris Ayala reflects, “As a senior, the thing I will miss most about my team is the bonding and experiences I had with each and every one of my teammates, whether it was good or bad, we always went through the process that made us closer. Especially, with the people I started off my freshman year (J.A.K.E) but also the other girls that came along the way, we always helped each other out, both on and off the court. It was an unexplainable bond that will forever be cherished.”
