In the early hours of Monday, Oct. 9, residents of Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties woke up to wildfires raging through the landscapes surrounding their homes. The fire still lives. According to CNN, “Wildfires have burned more than 191,000 acres…” and winds responsible for spreading the flames have yet to let up. A total of 26 deaths have been reported, while hundreds are being treated for “fire-related injuries or health issues, including burns, smoke inhalation and shortness of breath.” 285 residents are still unaccounted for in Sonoma county alone, while 8,000 firefighters continue to fight to try to contain the blaze. 20,000 residents have been evacuated and it is yet to be determined when they will be able to return to their homes. Along with residential communities, several well-known wineries have also been consumed by the fire.
