Rihanna’s new Fenty beauty line forever changes the makeup game

Robyn Rihanna Fenty is a Barbadian singer that rose to fame after her album, Music of the Sun, was released in August 2005. She began singing when she was seven years old and has now sold over fifty million albums. However, before she was known as BadGalRiri, she was a girl in Barbados fascinated by makeup. The singer teased her makeup line in a number of Instagram pictures and videos for several months and now, Rihanna’s highly anticipated makeup line has finally arrived.

Fenty Beauty launched Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, releasing all of its products in 17 countries. Exclusively available at Sephora in the United States and Harvey Nichols in the United Kingdom, the brand has been a huge success, selling out quickly in stores.

The singer was not lying when she said she created Fenty Beauty for everyone. The makeup line caters to a variety of skin tones, offering 40 different shades of foundation. Fenty has one of the most diverse color ranges on the market compared to Anastasia Beverly Hills, which has 30 shades and L’Oreal, which has 30 shades.

Fenty Beauty’s campaign video features a diverse group of models, including Duckie Thot and Halima Aden. In the teaser, fans can see what the different makeup shades look like on women of all skin tones. “Fenty Beauty was created for everyone: for women of all skin shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races. I wanted everyone to feel included. That’s the real reason I made this line,” Rihanna wrote on her website.

Along with foundation, the line also includes primers, blotting powder, highlighters, a universal lip gloss, and a variety of makeup brushes with prices ranging from $10 to $54. In addition, Rihanna released Match Stixs which can be used as a concealer, contour, or highlight and come in twenty different shades, with colors ranging from “Porcelain” to “Espresso.” In total, Fenty offers 91 products. The products were designed to be lightweight but still deliver buildable coverage.

From the universal lip gloss to six shades of highlighter, Rihanna strived to make all of the products as universal as possible. The darker foundation shades quickly sold out in stores but are still available online on the Fenty Beauty website at the time of publishing.

Fenty Beauty has also been confirmed by the singer herself to be “cruelty-free and paraben-free.” Although Fenty Beauty is not considered a vegan line, there are some products that are vegan-friendly, such as the Match Stixs, universal lip gloss, foundation, blotting powder, and brushes.

Rihanna’s makeup line, Fenty Beauty, has been the inclusive brand that everyone has been waiting for. While many makeup brands claim to “be flattering on all skin tones,” Fenty Beauty is one of the very few makeup brands that can truly be labeled as diverse.
