Schools attend California Thespian State Festival

California Thespian State Festival occurred March 31 to April 2 and Citrus Valley’s Thespian troupe 7716 was immensely successful in the competitions.

The students, with help of Ms. Elena Villa, set up their own performances to compete with at the festival in different categories. Here are just a few of the many fantastic achievements:
The group was very respectful in everything they did and hotel staff believed they were in college.
Senior Raphael Berglas received 1st place in Monologue and a Senior Scholarship.
Sophomores Jackson Bottorff, Kobe Darby, and Daniel Hernandez won 2nd place in group acting.
Seniors Denali Linton, Raphael Berglas, Charisma Garcia, and D’Angelo Parks placed 3rd in Scenefest, a competition of 10 minute play performances.
Junior Emma Loney was chosen to be an Assistant Stage Manager for the All State Show, which D’Angelo Parks assistant directed and Sophomore Kelsey Cauldren performed in.
Citrus Valley is so proud of their troupe, and we hope the best for their future.

Redlands East Valley’s troupe also attended the festival. Senior Katie Hayes said, “for REV, festival is just about being understood and surrounding ourselves with other people who understand us.”

One of their sophomores also got a callback, meaning she is in the top 15% in the country. Most of these participants qualify to compete in International Thespian Festival over the summer, and they are all very excited to participate.
