The Rotary Star Search Program is looking for applicants. This program is, as stated on its website, “a talent show benefit fundraiser presented by Sunrise Rotary.” The event will be held Friday, April 29 at 7:00pm at the Fox Theater. Applications to be in the talent show are due by April 1.
Nine performers will be chosen and judged, and first place will receive the Golden Galaxy Star Trophy and $500. By attending the event one will have a chance to support “a wide range of community and global needs. If you choose to help, you can designate your funds to support one of these programs.” The site says that the event will be a “casual, fun evening” where one can “leave your jacket and formal dress at home.” The event will have movie theater snacks ready for the show.
Tickets cost $35, and are available from Sunrise and RSRX Rotarians or available for online purchase. There are only 400 seats, and “they’ll go fast at this price.”
Highlighted programs of the Rotary Star Search include: Read for Life, Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), Personal Rotary Youth Development Experience (PRYDE), Ford Park Fishing Derby, Interact and Rotaract Clubs, End Polio, Rotary Youth Exchange, and Project Peanut Butter, all programs designated to support and help the surrounding communities. Hosting the event are: Dan Abushanab (event chair), Micah White (club president), Austin Meiners (RSRX club president) and Beth Sanders (incoming club president).
