Last week Redlands East Valley held boys soccer tryouts at the AYSO fields. Tryouts are grueling and nerve wracking. They consisted of drills, scrimmages, and sprints. Each of these tasks showed the strengths and weaknesses of each individual player.
The players that tried out included upperclassmen, underclassmen, and transfers from other schools. Cooper Lindfelt, a freshman center midfielder that recently made varsity, said one of his strengths during tryouts was his ball control which helped during the difficult tryouts. Jesus Mora, a junior center back returning to varsity explained that the hardest part for him was his spot not being secured or guaranteed. Jacob Urbano, a junior center midfielder and transfer from Cajon, recently made varsity as well. Jacob said the hardest part about tryouts was coming from a new school and having to fight for his spot on the team. Many of the players found tryouts to be strenuous but well worth it. Tryouts came to an end by announcing the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity soccer teams for the 2016-2017 school year.
