The U.S. Army All-American Bowl, hosted by American Family Insurance, is a high school event that features 90 selected top football players in an East vs. West matchup. It takes place Saturday, Jan. 7 at 10 AM PST in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. This matchup is streamed live on NBC and is viewed by millions of people.
The event, which has been a tradition for 17 years now has starred multiple famous NFL players such as Odell Beckham Jr., Andrew Luck, Adrian Peterson, and many more. The 2016 game was dominated by the West with a score of 37-9.
The U.S. Army selects candidates for the game that embody what it truly takes to be a soldier in the U.S. Army and have the traits and characteristics of an Army Strong Soldier. Redlands East Valley’s Jaelan Phillips, a 5 Star Defensive End, has recently been selected for the 2017 All American Bowl.
The ceremony for the prestigious honor took place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Wildcat Gym and featured REV’s band, members of the Armed Forces, and staff and students from REV. Phillips was joined onstage by his parents, sister, head coach, and principal. He plans to attend UCLA for the spring season of football.
