Shearer Teaches Seniors For the First Time

By ARMANDO BALDERAS

Jerry Shearer is a 12th grade English and 11th grade AVID teacher at Citrus Valley High School. He started his teaching career in 2009 at Rancho Verde High School in Perris, California. He has taught 9th – 12th grade within his 7 years of teaching.

Shearer first began teaching at CVHS in Oct. 2015, teaching English 9. “What I enjoy about teaching is the students and seeing them set goals for themselves and achieve them,” said Shearer.

As Shearer’s first year teaching English 12 he inputs, “I like teaching senior English for the first time because I like working with students close to college.” Shearer elaborated that he expects to see 60 percent of his students get accepted to college in the 2016- 2017 school year.

Shearer likes the CV student body, staff, and administrators and describes the school in three words: quaint (small and charming), academic, and welcoming.

“Some advice I can give the class of 2017 is, always set high goals and reach them. Change is good and live today and plan for tomorrow,” states Shearer.
