The New and Improved EarBuds: AirPods


What are AirPods? Apple music describes their new product: “Wireless. Effortless. Magical. Just take them out and they’re ready to use with all your devices. Put them in your ears and they connect instantly. Speak into them and your voice sounds clear. Introducing AirPods. Simplicity and technology, together like never before. The result is completely magical.” AirPods are wireless headphones that automatically power on once they are connected to an IPhone, IPod, Apple Watch, or Mac.

AirPods “sense when they are in your ears and they pause when you take them out,” and they “know when you’re talking and they know when you are listening”. There is a voice accelerometer that recognizes when one is talking that blocks out the noise around it and focuses on the sound of the voice. There are optical sensors and motions that control the audio and engage the microphone, giving one the ability to use one AirPod or both. AirPods enable to play sound as soon as they are put in one’s ears. There is a clear sound in the AirPod with high-quality AAC audio (Advanced Audio Coding) which is an audio coding standard for digital audio compression.

Airpods have “[t]he power of 24-hour battery life,” as stated in They can work continuously for 3 hours  with only 15 minutes of charging. Ultimately, AirPods can be used for up to 24 hours of listening time, and still play music clearly.  AirPods are not like the regular earphones that one usually purchases, as they have much more advantages and benefits. However, if AirPods are not purchased, regular earphones are still efficient in listening to music, and can be used by simply plugging them into a lightning connector.

Well…you don’t The AirPods will automatically connect to any Apple device that you have. All you have to do is connect them once and they will stay connected.
