REV Softball Swings for the CBL Title

By: PAUL VILLAGRANA
With a stellar record of 8-1 in the Citrus Belt League, the Redlands East Valley girl’s softball team hopes to come out on top ahead. While the season coming to down to its final games, Yucaipa High School is on the schedule and the possibility of taking the title lies there.

Senior outfielder, Ashlyn Acosta, talked about how hard the team had, “pushed each other to get to the best of their potential,” before the season had started. The hard work has certainly paid off for them as they only trail Yucaipa by one win for the CBL title.

Acosta continued by stating, there were high expectations coming into the season, and “we’re hoping to win CBL, we know it’ll be hard, but we’ve been working hard for this”. The seniors have been pushing the lower classman to get them to see and contribute to this goal by running them in practice and motivating them everyday.

The Wildcats are looking to bounce back from their 10-4 record last season, which put them in 3rd place for CBL.

On February 27, the girls made a statement in the league, showing that they were going to be contenders this season, by beating La Mirada 16-6. Months later, they still show that they are a team to fear, when they beat Cajon 11-1 on April 27, adding another win to their streak of 10. Though the team wants to get this title, they know that it’ll take one game at a time.

With 5 games left in the season, one of them being a rematch against the Cajon Cowboys on April 29th, the team looks to close out the season on a strong note, hoping to achieve their goal of a league title.

  1. Shut up Julia! The FitnessGram Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal bodeboop. A sing lap should be completed every time you hear this sound. ding Remember to run in a straight line and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark. Get ready!… Start. ding
