16 Ways to Stay Positive in 2016

Do not let stressful situations bring you down in 2016.  Here are 16 ways to stay positive in 2016.

1) Sleep more
Sleeping more has a huge impact on how you approach our day. Getting the right amount of sleep will not only aid your health but make you less grumpy in the morning.

2) Try to stay in the present
Focusing on the past can cause stress, letting your brain wander to past experiences or trying planning your future can set a state of unhappiness or anxiousness.

3) Spread positivity to someone’s life
Find a way to spread positivity to those around you.  It will make you feel better and make stay positive.

4) Spend time with people who make you happy
Hanging around with negative people will cause you to feel negative in some way; try to limit yourself to negative people. Happy people lift your spirits and bring joy into your life. Think about who you are surrounded by.

5) Deal with your problems
Don’t dwell on something as this can extend the course of negative thinking.  If something comes up that puts you in a bad mood, it is best to deal with the situation right away rather than trying to avoid it.

6) Find something you love doing
Finding something you love doing can be a great way to be stress free.

​7) Do not let small problems become big ones
If you continue to focus on a small situation, it will usually start a snowball effect. The problem will become larger than it needed to be.

8) Find the positive in a negative situation
When things do not go as planned try to find the best in the situation, it can later turn out better than planned

9) Do not get wrapped up in other people’s problems
Everyone has problems and it is always nice to have a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen, but always remember you should not let those problems become part of your own life. Focusing on other people’s problems will cause you stress.

10) Make a success list
Making a list of things you have completed throughout the day can make you feel better about yourself.

11) Acknowledge the fact that things will get better
Everyone has bad days, but you have to realise that tomorrow will be a different day and it is a chance to start over.

12) Meditate/ Doing yoga
Meditating or doing yoga can help clear your mind from all the negativity happening in your life.

13) Make a list of positive things in your life
Making this list can help you realize that you are lucky to have these things in your life.

14) Keep a positivity journal
Keeping this journal is a great way to keep track of all the positivity in your life.

15) Indulge in your favorite things
Set time aside for things you enjoy doing. This will make you forget the negativity.

16) Always remember you have the power to choose your attitude
You get to choose if you want to be a negative or positive person.
