CV Soccer Prepares for a Strong Season

Citrus Valley girls varsity soccer is getting ready to have a great start to the 2015 season.

After practicing for hours during the summer, Coach Jack Avakian believes the team is ready for the challenges they have ahead of them.

When asked about his goal for the varsity team this year he says,  “Our first goal obviously is to win league, we want to win the CBL. We are used to being on the top dollar so our goal is to diffidently win the CBL.Winning the league title would be a great accomplishment for a team with so much passion for what they do.

During an interview, Coach Jack was asked about picking the team captains for the team, and he answered by saying, “We try to see who gravitates up and takes the national leadership role and then we try to look for the older girls. So it’s just a combination of the older girls and who is drifting up to show leadership qualities.” Avakian also stated, “I might let the girls vote to get their feelings in on it but, I don’t want it to become a popularity contest, it’s about leadership.”

Citrus Valley has a school motto of “C.L.A.S.S,” which stands for character, leadership, attitude, scholarship and service, and the girls soccer team is a great example of this.

The team has won CIF three years in a row (2011, 2012, and 2013), and are hoping to grow stronger and progress as a team.

Go support the team’s first game on Dec. 1 at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino at 3:15 p.m.
